We are dedicated to maintaining a positive, enriching environment to nurture creativity. After searching high and low in Rochester, we finally found our dream studio. This bright, beautiful, 1100-square-foot space is designed to inspire and support artists of all skill levels.

Our studio is more than just a workspace — it’s a supportive community dedicated to artistic growth and creative exploration. Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned ceramicist, you’ll find a welcoming environment to craft, learn, and inspire.

Little Sparrow Ceramic’s Studio Policies:

  1. Arrival: Arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before class, as we need this time to prepare for the day.

  2. End of class: Please have your tools and area cleaned up by the end of class. You will need to stop working 10-15 minutes before the end of class to adhere to the time scheduled. We still have mopping and other cleaninåg to do after everyone leaves.

  3. Clean up: Return all tools, bats, brushes, glazes, etc. to their proper storage areas. Do not leave them next to the sink. Everything in the studio has a designated storage spot. Also, wipe up glaze and underglaze spills with a sponge, including on the floor (it’s a lot harder to mop these up after they are dry). Clean chunks of clay out of the sink if you have dumped them there (but you should be dumping these into reclain bucket). Wash and reshape brushes with cold water only (hot water melts the glue holding the bristles in).

  4. Shelves: If you have a designated shelf, please make sure that there is room for your finished fired pieces to be placed on the shelves when we take them out of the kiln.

  5. Classes/Session: There are 6 classes in each session. One class is equal to a single day (not 5 hours of spread over multiple days).

  6. Makeup class policy: There is one regular makeup class per session, usually is scheduled for the week after the session ends. When you sign up for a session, you are purchasing your spot in the class. (The session price is based on how many people we need per class to cover our overhead, regardless of attendance.) Special makeup classes can only be scheduled for absences due to illness, emergencies, or by prior approval. Requests for makeup classes must be made at least 24 hours in advance. If you do not think you will be able to adhere to the class schedule, please wait to sign up when you can commit to the class schedule.

  7. Special scheduling: In some cases, we may be able to arrange a custom schedule for you if you’ve been with us for awhile and have an extended trip coming up, for example, but that needs to be set up in advance.

  8. Cell Phone Policy: Cell phones must be put on silent or vibrate mode while in class. If you need to take a phone call, please step out in the hall to talk. We want to ensure that everyone has a pleasant relaxed time while they are creating. Please use headphones to listen to music, books, etc.

Not all studios are a good fit for everyone. We encourage you to check out other studios if you are unable to adhere to the studio’s policies. We appreciate all your efforts to help us make things continue to run smoothly.
